The original dwelling, built in 1985, was designed by local architect Robert Swanson and is located in the hills of Lone Pine, a private Bloomfield Hills community.
The interior design layout is generated from the simple concept: to allow the existing large windows to frame the outside surrounding/context of the beautiful site/landscape. The experience is captured by the removal of many interior walls, expanded openings to create continuous movement from space to space and the minimal use of materials/color. To highlight specific objects or vertical/horizontal planes through the introduction of dark cabinetry with colored glass doors, contrasting granite/natural maple hardwood floors, color scheme of pure white walls/ceiling versus a slight hint of bright color.
